Keynote Speakers

Dr. Northrup has spent three decades in higher education crafting learning systems to inspire the future of work and learning. Currently, Dr. Northrup consults with state higher education systems and universities across the country supporting online learning growth, academic master planning, community, career, and workforce partnership development, micro-credentialing, state-level initiatives supporting access and attainment of high value credentials for the future of learning and works directly with senior leaders on specific institutional strategic initiatives. She has served in several executive leadership positions including CEO of an Innovation Institute, Vice President of Research and Strategic Innovation, Senior Associate Provost of Academic Innovation and Distance Learning, and Dean of the College of Education and Professional Studies at University of West Florida. She also spent five years leading state level initiatives in Florida to support adult degree completion, career education, and framing the overall cost of online learning. Dr. Northrup continues to work on STEM initiatives focused on filling workforce gaps and inspiring the next generation of STEM professionals. Dr. Northrup has over 150 publications and presentations including her most recent co-authored text Career Ready Education Through Experiential Learning.

Dr. Robert SchoenRobert C. Schoen, Ph.D., is the Associate Director of LSI’s Florida Center for Research in STEM (FCR–STEM). His research experience extends from the development of educational and psychological measurement instruments and in-depth study of student mathematical thinking to the mathematical education of teachers and rigorous evaluation of the effectiveness of educational interventions. He has served as co-principal investigator for several research projects. Through these projects, Dr. Schoen has developed and sustained collaborative professional relationships with principals, teachers, and district staff and has gained valuable insights into program development, implementation, educational measurement, and evaluation of educational interventions in varying local contexts.

Valray OleinikValary Oleinik is half artist and half geek, and 100% committed to finding ways to help people develop and deliver more engaging and effective learning experiences. Her innovative approach as a speaker and consultant on gamification of learning and creative problem solving has earned her the titles of “maven of new thinking” and the “MacGyver of training.” Throughout her decades of experience in workplace learning and development and professional development of higher education staff, she has been on a quest to level up learning experiences because “learners deserve better” than boring, irrelevant, and ineffective training and instruction.

Valary wears many hats: a Project Manager at the international law firm Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP; the Owner and Chief Disruptor at her consultancy DandeLearn LLC, where she offers one-on-one coaching, as well as workshops and keynotes; and a Director at USDLA (United States Distance Learning Association) where she currently chairs both the Advisory Board and the Conference and Events Committee. Valary is also a certified facilitator of The BOX Experience, a proven methodology for those times when thinking out of the box is not enough. Throughout her endeavors, she is assisted by her cat and bunny who are lousy typists but great at shredding papers.
